The story behind Margot Arts
A family business started from scratch in Florida — named after a grandmother, built by a mother of four, and grown one handmade doll at a time.
My grandmother's name was Margot. She was always very crafty and put love into every single thing she created. I wanted to carry that forward.
Why Margot?
Monica named the business after her grandmother — a woman who spent her life making things by hand. It felt like the right way to honor that.
Margot Arts is 100% family owned and operated. No investors. No outside management. Every decision is made by the family.
The brand started on Etsy with handmade clay dolls and has grown steadily — more products, a larger team, and a customer base that now spans 30+ countries.
The journey so far
Monica had always been creative. Sewing, crocheting, bow making were already part of her life. When she started working with cold porcelain clay, it felt like a natural fit.
With four kids at home and a full-time cashier job, Monica started listing handmade clay dolls on Etsy. She worked on them evenings and weekends. The reviews came in. Really good ones.
Customers kept coming back and leaving detailed reviews about the quality and care. The stores grew steadily and the brand built a real reputation in the clay crafting community.
As demand outpaced capacity, Monica started designing her own silicone molds so other crafters could make the same dolls at home. She now owns 150 proprietary designs not available anywhere else.
Monica started posting tutorials showing the process. One reel hit 1.3M views. Then 828K. Then 787K. Crafters from all over the world discovered the brand organically.
To keep up with demand, six artisans joined to help with doll production. Monica's eldest son also came on board to manage the business side. A proper family business in the fullest sense.
The Shopify store is live. 150+ mold designs. Orders to 30+ countries. Monica still pours every mold by hand in Florida. There is a lot more ahead.

Meet Monica
Monica Da Gama came to the United States with a lot of ambition and a genuine love for making things. She's a mother of four, a self-taught artist, and someone who has never really stopped creating.
Before Margot Arts, she was already skilled in sewing, crocheting, and bow making. Clay dolls became her focus because of the level of detail involved.
The business has been an immense learning experience from the very beginning. What started as an Etsy shop is now a growing operation with a real team.
